ERYNGIUM ALPINUM SUPERBUM SEEDS: A fascinating architectural plant with long thistle-like purple-blue flower heads and attractive, deeply toothed foliage. Excellent as an accent plant and dried flower.
SOW: January to April, FLOWERS: June to October, HEIGHT: 60cm, PREFERS: Full Sun, SEEDS: 50 Approx.
FOR INDOOR SOWING: WHEN – January to April. WHERE – In trays of seed compost. HOW - Sow thinly, cover lightly with 0.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Place in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse. Germination may be erratic. Seedlings appear 14-35 days. To promote germination cover with glass, polythene or a propagator lid and place outside for 2-3 weeks. Then return to cold frame or greenhouse and keep at approx. 15C.
CARE - When large enough transplant singly to small pots. Gradually acclimatise to outside conditions. Transplant 30cm apart in flowering position from September to October. Keep moist and weed free. FLOWERS: June to October, the following year.
